Lee Nelson is a poet and educator from Luton. He has been writing and performing poetry for nearly 30 years. His work has rhythm and grit, humour and commitment.
Lee thinks that the purpose of art is to change the world. Art makers and those who enjoy art all have a role to play.
My work recently has been very concerned with ideas about connection and kindness. By celebrating what we have in common in the world we can build awareness of what needs to be done to preserve it and preserve ourselves as part of it. That's why this project is so exciting. All humans can feel the land beneath them, the sky above them and the heart within them - the chance to try to draw people out of the town to feel what they can feel on the top of a hill, feel what they can feel when close to a natural water source . . . if this work can help make that connection between humanity and the land then the first step towards something glorious has been taken.
