Luton Henge build begins!

A tall rock points at the sky. It's silhouetted against a pinkish blueish evening sky. There are long fronds of wheat silhouetted around the stone.

Luton Henge build begins!

Luton Henge has begun! On Midsummer's Day the Totternhoe Chalk Standing Stone was brought to its new home near Marsh House in Luton. Members of the Luton Community helped 'stand the stones' and artist Matthew Rosier, local producers Revoluton Arts, Chilterns National Landscape staff, Kerenza McClarnan, National Landscapes Association Nature Calling Manager, and members of the team from National Creative Executive Producers Activate were all there to celebrate.

A group of people of all ages stand next to a standing stone. The stone is chalk, a pale rock, it has a point at the top and is on top of a banking. The people all look happy and celebratory.

Luton Henge was granted permanent planning permission a few weeks ago and members of the Luton Henge Collective are already busy planning programming for the site, and how they will keep it a place for celebration and contemplation for the whole community well into the future.

A bright orange digger is digging on a rocky site. There are standing stones around. The rocks are light coloured. There is a person just in front of the digger wearing a sunt hat, hi viz jacket and dark trousers looking at the floor. The Luton Henge standing stones are being installed.
